Yala - the southernmost province of Thailand, has a typical landscape of mountains and forests. The word 'Yala' comes from the folk language here 'yalor' meaning fishing net because now the town has a mountain that looks very much like a fishing net. In fact, on topography Yala is a lowland area and people here live mainly on fishing.
